I'm raising £150 to support Suffragette City's 2026 charities

Story

Suffragette City is a not-for-profit Manchester-based club night held annually to mark International Women’s Day, established in 2018. We raise funds for local grassroots charities supporting women and gender expansive people.

This year our event is on Saturday March 7th at YES, Charles Street, Manchester.

The bulk of our funds are raised through selling tickets and merchandise, but we host a fundraising page each year to encourage donations from anyone who cannot attend the event who may still wish to support our charities.

This year our charity partners are:

The River, Openshaw, Manchester

The River supports individuals and families fleeing domestic abuse by providing comprehensive resettlement and crisis support. Their services include resettlement packages with essential furniture, emergency food parcels, clothing, and toiletries. They also assist survivors to move to safety through removal van support, ensuring a secure and dignified transition into new accommodation.

In addition, they deliver workshops that raise awareness of domestic abuse, alongside mental health sessions and emotional wellbeing counselling. These services are designed to help survivors rebuild confidence, improve mental health, and regain independence as they begin a safer and more stable chapter of their lives.

Contact Hostel

Contact is a charity providing accommodation and practical support for homeless teenage girls from the Manchester area. They have helped nearly 1,000 young women get back on their feet and move on to better, happier futures. The young women they support may have experienced relationship breakdowns, domestic violence, forced marriage, threatened abduction, as well as physical and emotional abuse.

They have seven bedrooms in their main house and two in their move-on accommodation, offering a welcoming and homely atmosphere in the heart of South Manchester. They also support young women with the next stage of their lives, whether they want to return to education, start a job, or explore training opportunities.
