Who is Avril?

Avril Chester is a senior executive in technology, a finalist at the 2018 women in IT awards (digital leader of the year category), Vice Chair & Trustee of seAp advocacy and author of ‘Be with me, it’s c’. She realised the need for Cancer Central while being treated for breast cancer.

How does S&S know Avril?

One of the consultants here at S&S, Roberto, first met Avril last year. Since then Avril has attended several of S&S's events and has shared her story with the rest of the team. As you can imagine, everyone was inspired by Avril's story and was keen to get involved.

So, what is Cancer Central?

For the first time. One centralised cancer source signposting to products, services and support available from the Private, Public and Not for Profit sector. Cancer Central is the go to website from point of diagnosis, treatment and beyond. It will intelligently share based on location and cancer type;

• Products - such as books, hats, wigs, skincare, insurance, lingerie

• Services - such as complementary therapies, respite care, counselling, rehabilitation classes, meals on wheels

• Support - such as local groups, online communities, end of life, financial or nutrition advice and blogs

Any donations big or small will help Cancer Central to become an incredible support network for all those effected.

Some of the team are complete 'newbies' to running so are doing "couch potato to 10k", while others are on par with Mo Farrah (so they like to think).
