Story

For my 50th birthday this year, instead of presents, I’m asking for something more meaningful: your support for the Little Literacy Library in Kolkata, India.

What is the Little Literacy Library? The Little Literacy Library (LLL) is a grassroots initiative dedicated to providing books, education, and nourishment to children residing in urban slum communities. This initiative was started a few years ago by my daughter while she was still in school, driven by her passion for literacy and social impact.

Each “library” is a small, safe community hub where children aged 5–15 can:

- Access bilingual storybooks in Bengali and English

- Learn about nutrition and healthy living

- Receive guidance from trained community volunteers and library assistants

Libraries are stocked with curated books, mats for seating, and simple educational tools, all managed locally with support from nutrition and education experts. It’s about feeding minds and bodies, and building brighter futures, one child at a time.

Why This Matters to Me

I believe every child deserves the opportunity to read, learn, and dream, regardless of where they are born. That’s why I’m dedicating my birthday to supporting this amazing project.

How Your Gift Helps

- Provide books and educational supplies

- Fund nutritious snacks during sessions

- Support the expansion to more communities

The LLL has already supported over 45 children, but there are so many more who need access to learning and care. With a target of £500, I invite you to donate in honour of my birthday and help write a new chapter in these children's lives. Thank you for celebrating with purpose. Together, we can make a lasting impact.
