We are raising money to help with funding for a new building for Sunflower Seed Preschool.

About the build......Sunflower Seed Preschool is a charitable organisation providing childcare service to local families. We are the only childcare provision service in Northborough, there is no childminders registered in our village. We are registered with Ofsted and attracted GOOD rating in the latest inspection in March 2017.

We are located in a small porta - cabin, which has been placed in its current position circa 20 years ago. The building us very worn out and constant maintenance is needed to the facility. Our organisation is managed by volunteer committee constituting of around 12 members at the moment.

This project is a real community gathering, and in true Sunflower tradition, we will bring people together and build strong relationships in and across communities - throughout this project all local community is involved on every stage of the planning, fundraising and delivery.

We will Improve the places and spaces that matter to communities - Peterborough Childcare Sufficiency and Market Position Statement in 2017 identified Northborough as one of the most childcare provision deficient areas in the whole of the authority. Our current mobile cabin located on the adjoining site has reached the end of it's life and in the last 12 months we had to close the facilities for over 4 weeks in total (due to major maintenance issues) depriving parents of children aged (2 - 11) of only childcare facility in the local area. Local Neighborhood Council Survey identified new childcare facilities as a major need for local community in terms of facilities and access to services.

Moreover, the new building will provide us with additional space, thus allowing to increase the capacity of the service To Northborough and surrounding villages.

We are also working very close with Northborough Primary School located just next door and they are our main community partner.
