    Story

    Can you sponsor a SuperScrubs Bear for the child of an NHS frontline worker for just £6?

    *NHS workers and their children have had to make huge sacrifices over recent months. Many children have had reduced physical contact from their frontline working parents, with families even moving their children out of the family home to protect them against covid-19.

    * We have designed and created a teddy bear called ‘SuperScrubs’, to provide comfort to these children, whilst also giving them a little keepsake to remember something positive from this strange, sad time;

    * We have designed the scrubs on each bear to be printed with a white heart and rainbow text saying either ‘My Mummy is an NHS Hero, #savinglives2020’ or ‘My Daddy is an NHS Hero, #savinglives2020 (they both have the same mask, the pics just show what he looks like with and without his mask pulled up);

    * These bears are 22cm x 20cm and usually retail plain, with no print on their scrubs on Amazon for £11.62 (recently gone up to £16.99, yet another one cashing in on the pandemic!). They cannot be purchased anywhere with the print on them as this is something we have created. To see the specification of the plain scrubbed bear you can search for Doctor Bear on Amazon:

    *We have been busy working hard with lots of different suppliers and have secured some amazing pricing. For just £6, you can cover the cost of a SuperScrubs teddy bear, PLUS the cost for the scrubs to be printed with either the Mummy or the Daddy text, PLUS the cost of a paper gift bag, PLUS the cost of an A5 sized adoption certificate which will include your name so the recipient will know who gifted their bear. The £6 also includes the Justgiving fee so there's no need to add extra when it asks;

    * We have already covered the initial start up costs to get the scrubs designed and printed - turns out that printing rainbow colours onto dark material isn't as straight forward as we thought but a HUGE thank you to our amazing print supplier who has spent so much time working to get our design perfect!. We have also funded the cost of the first 100 bears - 25 bears for children of family and friends and 75 bears for Southend University Hospital which will be dropped off shortly. Southend Hospital have done so much for us the past 2 years, and we are so excited to get these bears to some of the incredible frontline workers there! Our living room is currently being taken over by SuperScrubs bears and we have lots more bears needing homes!

    OUR MISSION - To get as many SuperScrubs bears to as many children as possible! There are over 4000 frontline workers at Southend Hospital, many with more than 1 child, which is why we are asking for your help to donate just £6 to sponsor a bear.

    WHY HAVE WE NAMED THE TEDDY BEAR SUPERSCRUBS ? Because some Superheroes wear scrubs and not capes !

    OUR STORY

    I have felt terribly guilty the past couple of months. Enjoying my maternity leave not just with my four month old but being lucky enough to also have my five year old off with me as well. Every day I’ve stayed safely at at home whilst key workers are out risking their lives keeping everything going. I have been feeling pretty helpless so have been busy trying to put myself to some use!

    We have seen the impact of this pandemic on our five year old. He misses his friends, he misses his family, and was a little shook up when he saw a lady wearing a mask the other day. It frightened him. Yet he is at home, surrounded by his family and home comforts.

    Sadly the children of our NHS heroes are not as fortunate. Not only has their world been thrown into chaos, but they may be living apart from their Mummy or Daddy. Mummy may not be there to tuck them in and read them a bedtime story. Daddy may not be there to play with them. They may be going without cuddles, not fully understanding why, as their parents keep their distance to protect them. They may spend their days worrying that the person most important to them in the world, their Mummy or Daddy, could catch the virus.

    The lives of all of our children have changed drastically in these uncertain times, but we can’t help but think it is the children of frontline workers who are making the biggest sacrifice. We wanted to do something to provide some comfort to these children, so SuperScrubs was created!

    DONATION OPTIONS

    1) Donate £6 to gift a child with a SuperScrubs Bear by clicking the Donate Now button. When you make your donation please add a comment with your name so the recipient will know who their bear was gifted by. This could be your name or your child's name. For example, 'Sponsored by Amelia, age 5' or 'Sponsored by Harry, Rayleigh'. Or if you would rather remain anonymous that is fine too. We will then get your bear delivered in a paper gift bag to Southend Hospital for an NHS frontline worker to give to their child.

    2) For any businesses or individuals that wish to sponsor 50 bears or more (£300), we will arrange for your bears to be delivered to a hospital / care home and a ward OF YOUR CHOICE, with a covering note so they will know who their bears were gifted by. Please email us at SuperScrubsBear@hotmail.com with details.

    3) Bears can also be purchased through Paypal, with 100% of the proceeds going back into the fundraiser. Please email us at SuperScrubsBear@hotmail.com with details.

    Please get behind this fundraiser and support us by giving just £6 to sponsor a bear. Please share with families, friends and as many businesses as you can! Just think, for the price of a coffee and a cake, you could gift something to a child that will not only put a huge smile on their face during this difficult time, but that will also provide them with a lifelong keepsake.

    We will be posting photos and updates on both Facebook and Instagram so please do follow us by searching for SuperScrubsBear. You may even see a photo of your bear before he goes off to his new home! Thank you SO SO much!

    We will be mostly running this fundraiser in the evenings once our children have gone to bed so please bear with us if you drop us a message and we don't get back to you straight away. Thank you.
