Story

In Loving Memory of Valerie Mbongo

Our beloved mum, Valerie Mbongo, was a woman of immense warmth and strength. She touched so many lives through giving and unwavering support. Sadly, she lost the fight to cancer on February 7th 2025. Now, as we prepare to say our final goodbyes, we want to honour her memory in the most beautiful and dignified way possible.

Planning for her funeral has already begun with the team at A Spicer & Sons, and we have carefully costed all the necessary arrangements. However, the financial burden of laying her to rest is significant, and we are humbly reaching out for support.

We know that times are hard for many, and asking for help is never easy. But any contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference and will be deeply appreciated by our family. If you are unable to give, sharing this page with others would mean just as much.

You can find a comprehensive cost breakdown of the essential funeral costs here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jCnUb25IoLcjvC2a7yVpTCT82zoVE-ayWE7JQuZvB3I/edit?usp=sharing

Any funds raised exceeding the funeral costs will be donated to St Luke's Hospice - where my mum spent her final days in faultless, round-the-clock nursing care - and MacMillan Cancer Research. MacMillan has had a massive impact on us, first supporting our family through my dad's battle with cancer in 2008 before he sadly in February 2009 and coming back into our lives to gently but firmly support us through the last few months with my mum's fight with cancer.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, and generosity, and for helping us give our mum the farewell she truly deserves.

With love and gratitude,

Emmavie and Malvin
