This is a heartfelt URGENT appeal to the generosity and kindness from friends who are desperate to see our Shani pull through this very painful and difficult time in her young age.

Shani is a 33-year-old devoted mother to Seth (10), Onel (8) and Rashmera (6) living in Sri Lanka. She has recently been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumour, referred as High Grade Astrocytoma (WHO Grade III/High Grade Glioma). Course of action recommended is brain surgery to reduce the mass, followed firstly by radiation, and thereafter by oral chemo.
Immediate surgery for her condition is available only at Asiri Central Hospital, a private enterprise in Colombo, Sri Lanka and is scheduled approximately on 09/12/16. Medical procedures such as brain surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and after care in the private sector comes at a high price. As advised by the hospital , cost estimate (in GBP equivalent) excluding hospitalization is as follows:
Surgery and immediate pre-& post care- £ 16,000 to 21,000
Radiation (Tomo therapy) - £ 7,000
Chemotherapy £ 2,750
Second line Chemo (Avastin & Irinotecan.) £ 30,000
Since the shocking diagnosis of Shani’s cancer, her family and friends have rallied around with lots of support, financially and otherwise. However, the total amount required for treatment and after care, at this point, seems a bridge too far for the family. Hence this humble appeal from her friends knowing that every little contribution would help in some way.
Shani, with her positive attitude and vibrant personality, is trying to keep her family life and kids as normal as possible amidst the chaos of many medical appointments, tests, reports, advice etc that has taken much of her time lately. She is determined to fight this battle with her spiritual strength, the love and support of her family and friends.
