    Update April 2020

Three months later, and perhaps understandably under current circumstances, we’re still awaiting the results of January’s Planning Inspection. It was a packed couple of weeks, with half the seats round the table going to the north Essex Authorities and their many consultants, a batch of barristers (what is the collective noun for barristers?) representing anybody who has – or who thinks they might have – an interest in developing all over our countryside, and of course CAUSE and all our allies, with some brilliant experts asking the difficult questions, no matter what the topic.

There is one bill left for us to pay. We’ve received so much fantastic support over the years, and there are so many competing good causes in need at the moment, but if there’s anything you can do to help, that would be amazing. One of the more ‘senior’ members of the CAUSE committee has been inspired by Captain Tom and has offered to walk laps around his garden to raise funds. He’s just out of hospital himself and we’d rather save him the effort if at all possible!

Thank you, as always, for your brilliant support.

    Update December 2019:
Well it’s been a madly busy few months. We’ve been responding to multiple consultations and ‘engaging’ with the would-be developers wherever we can. Right now it’s hearing statements in preparation for the Planning Examination in January, and then it’ll be responses to everybody else’s hearing statements.

Thank you as always for your brilliant support: we’re spending it on the expert help we’ll be using at the Examination. Starts 14th January.

    .

    Update July 2019:
New 'evidence' is emerging from the councils and they're planning to try taking this back to the Planning Inspector later this year. We're poring through the documents right now but are likely to need to engage some help. Your donations allow us to work with specialists including the professional planners who normally work exclusively with developers.
    .

    Update January 2019:
2019 looks set to be a busy one, with a consultation over the summer, another examination likely towards the end of the year, and an increasingly legal focus. We will be more reliant than previously on barrister opinions, and we may need to seek advice on air quality and traffic modelling. All donations help us to ensure that our work is evidence-based and of the highest quality. Thank you for all your support.
    .

    Update June 2018:
A huge Thank You to thousands of supporters on justgiving and beyond. We are delighted to report that the Planning Inspector found the Local Plan to be 'unsound'. It's back to the drawing board for the councils and congratulations to the hard-working CAUSE volunteers. For details: cause4livingessex.com, facebook.com/StopGateway120/ , twitter @a120cause.

With many thanks for your dogged persistence and commitment towards exposing the failures and weakness of the four councils’ plans to the Planning Inspector. Good luck to all in the future!
