June 15th 2022 Thank you everyone - fundraising is now complete and I'm delighted that I was able to transfer £750 to Nick Eaves Crowdfunding for Ukraine page15th June 2022
I'm running the Otillo SwimRun World Series event in the Scilly Isles on June 5th (the Queen's Jubilee!). It's an event that includes 29K of trail running and 8k+ of sea swimming, made up of 9 runs and 8 swims.
I'll be out of my comfort zone big time and I'm coming back to training after a six-month hiatius due to injury. At the beginning of April I went on a swim camp in Mallorca to up my swimming game and I've just started the real thing – swim-running. It's hard.... however slightly irrelevant in the light of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
When I read this story back in March I felt inspired to keep the spirit of running (and now swimming) alive too! I'm supporting the incredible work of Nick Eaves who is running a crowdfunding campaign helping friends on the ground in Poland and Hungary driving desperate families from the border to the homes of host families. They are raising funds to buy medical supplies and essential provisions for these families (food and a change of clothes). The funds will be used locally to buy provisions to avoid the delay and cost of shipping. As I type they've successfully raised £64K.
