    IN NICKY's (Paiges's mum) words:

Paiges MS is unique, she was originally diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS. Despite being on Capoxone, she continues to relapse. Her last relapse was a huge lesion in the centre of her spine. This has caused damage to the nerves that lead to the stomach and intestines, causing dismotility to gut and intestinal failure. Paige's first symptoms of MS were typical, her gait was affected the most, with lack of balance, dragging of her feet. She was diagnosed at 14.
She then gained optic neuritis. Her hands often stiffen. She had bladder issues that got so bad, she can no longer go to the toilet herself, so she has an indwelling catheter.
A year ago she gained bowel incontinence. Doctors said originally it was down to constipation and the diarrhoea was a back flush of her bowels trying to naturally flush her out. She had a Mickey button, also known as an ace valve, which flushed her bowels out to prevent constipation.
This worked for a short time. Paige then started to vomit, for no reason. We put it down to the cocktail of medicines she was on. But no, because she had gained nerve damage to her intestines, food was not passing through, so she was then vomiting it back up. She lost a lot of weight. The doctors decided to start her on a liquid feed into stomach, hoping this would be easier to pass through.
It didn't work and she continued to vomit. So they then fitted a PEJ to feed her directly into her intestines. This did not work and her body rejected it.
Paige continued to lose weight and suffered malnutrition. Their option now was to start feeding her Total Parental Nutrition direct into her veins, which is done via her heart.
    Paige remains positive

Paige had a night at home last night (30th December) The plan is to build up to her being home from 4th January. They are trialling an new feed into her intestine to hopefully minimise the efect of the TPN on her liver. This has to be changed every 4 hours through the night. Nicky will be unable to care for Paige and work. She can make that decision because of your support. As this page closes (we will add a link to the new one) I just want to say thank you ❤ Happy New To you all 🍷

From Paige's mum Nicky Paige Patching, sporting her Xmas hat, getting into the spirit of Christmas. Santa came to visit this morning and the nurses have made her day really special. She has been flooded with visitors and presents.. we have managed to get her out of bed and into a chair.. she is slowly making progress.. We have said that we will recreate Christmas Day, when she finally comes home. Thank you so much for everyone's support and Merry Christmas everyone 😘 xxx
