Story
Sharon is a community member in a township in Hout Bay, Cape Town. She set up a bakery as a social entrepreneur with a mission to help empower people in the local area who are incredibly disadvantaged.
She runs a program to feed underpriveledged children and their families where she asks customers to pay it forward and pay for a meal for a child. Meals are then distributed to those who need them.
We met Sharon whilst on a female entrepreneurs retreat and we were so moved by her story that we wanted to help her.
One Saturday in 2017, Sharon's home was burned down in a house fire. She had one outfit left over, so she washed it, got dressed, and showed up for work on the Monday.
She loves her work and works for free. She also employs and trains local people to work for her, teaching them how to bake, and how to be great at customer service.
However she is not always able to pay the people who help her, and so most of the time she is limited to working alone.
Her vision is grand and there are many people in this area who need help.
We want to help pay it forward so Sharon can pay it forward to help so many more people.
For 25 Rand Sharon can feed one child. This is around £1.50 or $2.
150 Rand will buy a grocery shop for a family for a week. This is £9 or $12.
Sharon also needs equipment, ingredients, furniture, and money to support wages, and a training program to educate the local community with the skills they need to start working.
We heard a story of 11 and 12 year old girls who are having to prostitute themselves to buy food.
We have personally already provided Sharon with a new glass cabinet to display her goods, as well as a cash register, and this campaign to support her further.
With your support Sharon can help feed and train these people and make a difference on the ground

6 years agoLast week we were able to feed 40 children :) As well as emergency nourishment, your support and donations are also helping the bigger vision of getting children out of crime, drugs, and poverty, and into an environment where they can learn new skills and become employable. Sharon said she is "so happy, and over the moon with joy" - but we still have a lot of work to do. Our goal is to support Sharon's entrepreneurial spirit and make this project and it's growth sustainable. We are so thankful for you sharing and supporting this initiative!

We held a car wash (in MA, USA) to raise money for Nourish Bakery. I had heard about it through a friend in the UK and it sounded like a great idea, so I got my soccer team involved. Good luck! :)
