Santerpaws Bulgarian Rescue, has again been stuck with the parvovirus, this time it is more ruthless than ever before, vaccinated dogs are dying within 48 hours of contracting the disease. This appeal is twofold.
First we would like to raise some money to replenish the bank account for the ever mounting food and vet bills. We would normally move dogs out, but only dogs that have not been contaminated can be moved on, we are not set up to feed the amount of dogs we have here and we are not going to be able to continue at the rate we are with vet bills. Although our vet has been fantastic and given us a lot of treatment at cost, he does have to make a living.
Secondly, we have built and almost completed Zara's Place, this is a special kennel unit, which allows our newbies to be segregated until we know they are safe to mix with the others, we would like to put a secure fence around this so that we can allow them an extra compound place to play in once we know they are safe, and that they can be safe from other dogs (Stray) entering that part of the garden and causing unnecessary contamination.
We started a vaccine programme here, but without continual support we cannot continue to fund this all ourselves.
