Story

Our beloved cat Leafy was horribly attacked by a dog on Sunday. After we managed to prise him from the dogs mouth he fled in fear. We knew he was seriously injured so we searched everywhere for him. He didn’t come back home until the next afternoon.

We rushed him to the vets and his x-ray revealed his sternum was cracked in two causing his left lung to collapse, he has a broken foot and various bites requiring stitching.

He had to be taken to Queen Mother’s Hospital for animals in Hertfordshire and went straight into intensive care for another assessment by an orthopedic surgeon. He had to have his lung drained and they managed to take out 105mls. His CT scan showed he also had air in his chest cavity.

He is now out of surgery and in intensive care. He is stabilised and on oxygen as he can’t breath on his own. The surgeon put a drain in his chest and they have also used wire to bring his sternum together. He will remain in intensive care until they feel he can move into the normal ward.

Even though we have pet insurance it doesn’t cover all the care he has received and will continue to need. Today I am asking for your help, however big or small our family would really appreciate any donation you can give. Our children just want Leafy home and safe as do we.

Thank you
