Weʼve raised £335 to support EmergingProud in spreading awareness of mental health and spiritual emergence

    Brighton, United Kingdom
Funded on Saturday, 30th September 2017

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

In our fast-paced, quick-fix society, it is common to feel dissatisfied, demoralised and disconnected from each other and our purpose in life. We simply 'get on with it' and do as everyone else does. The field of mental health is still incredibly unclear, and psychological problems increasingly commonplace. Too often the 'answers' we are given simply mask or cover up a problem rather than address its underlying cause. Many are looking for more helpful paradigms and ways to feel okay, and some are experiencing an 'awakening', where one starts to see through layers of illusion. This phenomenon is referred to in many religions, particularly Buddhism and Hinduism, whose practices are gaining increasing popularity in the west.

When one begins to 'awaken' from the lies and delusions we have been taught to believe, it can be a very disconcerting and uncomfortable experience. Lies include but are not limited to: that you need to hold certain beliefs, look a certain way, behave a certain way, have loads of money or possessions, have a partner, have lots of friends, be successful, intelligent or productive in order to be worth something.

EmergingProud, an organisation just launched last month, looks to spread awareness of spirituality and mental health, create safe spaces and get more discussion happening about new ways of looking at mental health - for what appears to be madness can in many cases, if approached appropriately, turn out to be wisdom and our greatest light.

"There is no such thing as normal."

"Breaking down does not mean you are broken."

"Those who suffer a mental break are really bearing the brunt of a psychotic society."

With an attitude of openness and acceptance towards the unknown, many people can journey towards greater healing and wholeness, rather than increased separation and anxiety, which all too often can be the case with prescribed drugs, labels and judgement.

I hope you might be able to support this cause, thank you!
