Story
This is Suzandi Schoeman, my niece, and when she was 16 years old she almost died from a decease called transverse myelitis. She was in the ICU for a month and then in hospital for months after that learning how to walk. There where lots of complications and the doctors said she will never recover, and that she will have to find a way to live with it. For about 10 years she did just that, she beat the odds and she starting living her live, not letting it get her down. She learned how to drive, got a job and found a guy. Live seemed good until one day they went on a bike ride and they where involved in a accident. Both of them ended up in hospital with very serious injuries. Suzi had a broken pelvis to mention one. Because of the transverse myelitis, treating her has been very difficult and she has been in and out of hospital for months. She has had her thorax drained 4 times already and no antibiotic seem to be working. She is fighting for her life and the doctors don't know what to do anymore. As she does not have medical cover anymore and has to be treated through the state. Our goal is to try and help her parents with this load and hopefully if we can reach our target and more, we can get her more professional help. We don't know what to do and her family is struggling to cope with the thought of losing her. She is a very strong woman and even though it's going so bad with her she still tries to smile and cheer other people up and give them hope. There is a lot more detail to this story that is both very sad and inspiring. Information that will be provided if anyone would like to know. Thank you
