Story

On Monday March 23rd 1987 a security guard working for the council died after being blasted by a shotgun in Sunderland town centre. Kevin Tomlinson was shot at point-blank range as he chased two thieves following a wages hold-up outside the Co-op Bank in Fawcett Street. Kevin had served in the Navy during the Falklands war only to be gunned down doing his job in his home city. A fitting tribute to Kevin would be to have a stone laid for him on the Veterans walk in Mowbray Park Sunderland. We would like to raise £249 so that Kevins family can have a lasting memorial to their hero.
