Story
It is with great sadness that we share the news that our brother Paul Groarke passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, 13 August 2026.
Paul was passionate about music and dance and helped so many people over the years achieve their dreams. His face would light up when he shared success stories of his students with us.
Many of you in the industry will have known Paul over the years as the wonderful musician he was. As an accompanist, Paul brought classes to life with his playing, musical choices, and humour. He was always trying out new music and was very much part of every class.
Beginning his career as an accompanist at The Hammond in Chester, Paul went on to work with numerous colleges and schools, including many years at Bird and Performers College. More recently, he was a regular accompanist at Adagio, working alongside Principal Bronwen Patching, whom he had accompanied during her time as a student at The Hammond, bringing his career full circle.
Some of you will also have known him as 'Mr Paul' and alongside work as an accompanist and musician he was a well regarded teacher of the ISTD, holding a Licentiate in Ballet and Modern and a Fellowship in Tap. Paul taught for many years and for some time ran his own dance school in Coulsden. He also tutored prospective teachers for their DDE qualifications.
Paul's passion and generosity touched the lives of so many students, colleagues, and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and working alongside.
Paul’s sisters Suzanne and Fiona will pass on details of his funeral in due course for anyone that would like to attend and a link will hopefully be available for those who cannot attend in person.
