I've raised £20000 to help fund a house for Peter Brown at Tablehurst Farm. Peter and a team of volunteers will help the professionals leading this project.

Story

Ever since we moved to Forest Row and got to know Peter at the bio-dynamic Tablehurst Farm, I've seen how much work goes on at the farm and how its grown over the years. Peter (and his deceased wife Birgitta) and many others worked so hard to make it into a real community farm where visitors are always welcome and we can buy good, healthy food.
But not only that, we can also enjoy the café, walk over the farm, enjoy Christmas Eve with singing to the animals in the stables and listening to the old story with mince pies and punch, learn about bio-dynamic agriculture, ride a horse, enjoy the Saturday bbq, learn about bees, enjoy the open days and dance in the barn at harvest time. Tablehurst Farm is a real hub in our community where we're able to meet and at the same time learn about our environment. It's no wonder that young people flock to be part of this farm too. Over the years Peter has moved from the main farm building (where he and Birgitta looked year round after three residents as well as bringing up their own three children) to smaller locations. Every time he gave up his space for the younger generation. These hard working enthusiastic couples have their own growing families and therefore need also space. At the moment Peter is living in a one room flat above the shop where a noisy generator is on 24/7.
Last year Marc and I hosted fundraising dinners at Woodcote, this time I will walk to raise money for Peters house. He deserves better after all he has done for the farm and our community.
The planned straw bale house will be owned by St Anthony Trust and I would therefore wholeheartedly ask you to donate to this cause. We have now official planning permission from Wealden Council and Peter hopes to start building this summer. As he's not the person to ask for things for himself, I and the rest of the fundraising team, are happy to do it for him and hope to make it happen.
I'll report back to you after my walk.
Thank you very much,
Suzanne Hillen
