Help a local in Barbados set up a business.
So you’re thinking why? Well I’ve known Trevor for 24 years. He has all the great ideas, works 24/7 and I mean 7 days a week and doesn’t take time off. Barbados is known as a luxury holiday resort but not many people see the struggle the people there face. You can be skilled but earn less than BD$300 a week (that’s just £100 to us). There is little chance of saving. Trevor has the ideas, the passion and the drive, he just doesn’t have the money once he’s paid his bills and eaten its literally living hand to mouth day to day. However, if he had the money to purchase equipment to start his business then he could be the boss. He has many skilled friends he could employ and actually run something which would provide fair pay to his workers. I strongly feel he deserves a break and realise his dream.
I often think I wish I had the money to help set someone up in business, especially those who have the good ideas the work ethic and drive. I have every confidence that this guy can make it work. In the past he secured land and started a co-op farm. Sadly a hurricane destroyed it and the landowner wanted to use the land he was working from, but seeing the effort he put in to that project along with the long hours showed me how hard Trevor is willing to work. I’ve known his for 24 years and in all those years he has never asked me for a penny. Yet has been willing to share all he has (I which is not a lot) with us as a family. I really want to see him succeed, he really deserves it.
