    Story

Inspired by the late Captain Sir Tom Moore’s amazing 100 challenge to mark his hundredth birthday Mac and I have decided to undertake a 100 day litter pick around Thetford (and possibly other places!)

We will attempt to do at least one hour of picking every day beginning on Saturday 17 of April and finishing on Sunday 25 of July. During the 100 days we will be inviting special guests to join us with the picking as well as doing our regular litter picks with our Residents Association. Our progress can be followed on a daily post on Facebook. We will also ensure that Breckland District Council are kept up to date on our collections so the litter can be removed as soon as possible.

Volunteering gives you a real buzz and litter picking it is good for your mental as well as your physical health. And the bonus of this challenge is that hopefully Thetford will be a lot tidier.

The point of this page is to encourage you kind and generous folk to sponsor us or make a donation. All funds raised will be split between local (Thetford based) well being charites Men’s Shed and Art for Wellbeing group. Any donations will buy much needed resources for these groups. The remaining money will go to fund the purchase of litter picking equipment that can be given out to Thetford residents or local groups to encourage and continue to keeping Thetford tidy.

Update - we have changed our target as we have had such a positive response to the first couple days fundraising, lets reach for the stars.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

18th May Update - with lots of generous support from our sponsors we have managed to reach our target of £500 already. With 68 days still remaining of the litter pick challenge we are raising our goal to £1000, which would be an incredible achievement. Thanks you to all those who have so kindly donated already. 👏👏👏👏

My husband Mac and I live in Thetford and we spend quite a lot of our time litter picking. We both work full time, I am a local government officer and Mac is serving in the Royal Air Force. We enjoy helping out in community and being involved.
