£230raised of £500 target by 11 supporters

Weʼve raised £230 to help Rumbletums Community Cafe towards purchase of their building.

Funded on Monday, 10th June 2019

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Running 20 miles to help raise money for Rumbletums Community Cafe in Kimberley, Nottingham. They urgently need £200,000 to purchase the building they reside in, as it's up for sale.

The New Fat celebrates it's 20th year in business in 2019 - and to celebrate we are doing various '20' themed activities throughout the year. I have agreed to run a 20 mile trail race on May the 5th - raising money in the process for a charity which is close to my house, my heart and is a brilliant part of the local community.

Rumbletums Cafe and Training Project was set up to offer vocational training and work experience placements to young people and young adults (16-30) with learning disabilities. It's done this successfully since 2011 and now employs five staff and has space for up to 30 trainees. As well as this, it has become a community hub in Kimberley and also offers a parent and toddler group, a Silver Screen film night for older people, regular social events for young people with disabilities and subsidised room hire space for local voluntary organisations and community groups.

For the last 7 years, Rumbletums has rented its premises at a discounted rent, but now the landlords want to sell the building within the next year... at a cost of £200,000. Rumbletums is therefore faced with having to buy the premises, move out or wind up the project.

There are no suitable alternative premises locally and no-one associated with the project, now or in the past, wants it to end. The need for supported training for young people with learning disabilities is as great as it ever was and the local community values the other services that Rumbletums offers.

Therefore, Rumbletums is going to try to raise £200,000 to buy the building in order to continue - and expand - the project.

Training is all going well - have managed a 15 mile run! It definately hurt :-) Only 3 weeks left! Really want to ramp up some fundraising now we are so close. So please do spare any cash you can. Be great to help this briliant local charity cafe reach their target to buy their building. Thank you everyone who has sponsored me so far! Happy foam rolling.
