I've raised £3250 to help fund a communal vehicle (adapted 17-seat minibus) for bands on the Swansea music scene to have access to when necessary to get to gigs.

Playing in original bands can be quite costly: instruments, amplification, perpetual purchases of strings, picks and sticks, band practice, instrument and amplification maintenance, promotion and advertising...the list goes on and on. Many bands often struggle with vehicle access or maintenance due to very little or no surplus cash, and find it difficult to get to gigs outside of the area. There are also situations due to lack of vehicle maintenance where bands have had to cancel gigs outside of the area due to mechanical breakdowns they cannot afford to resolve before the gig and unable to source alternative transport.
As everyone knows, original bands gigging on the local and regional scene make no profit and cannot maintain their equipment and vehicles on their performing income alone, and still often struggle when working to support their passions.
I therefore propose the purchase of a communal band vehicle. It will be registered as property of Welsh Sound Board, but will be available to loan for local bands needing to travel to gigs but having insufficient means. Those "borrowing" the vehicle will be expected to cover fuel, insurance and small, refundable deposit which will include a a small non-refundable fee to cover wear and tear (like with vehicle hire), but will provide bands with an opportunity to perform further afield, out of the city, whilst also being a vital emergency safetynet for bands unfortunate enough to experience vehicular breakdowns, etc in short notice to a gig commitment.
The vehicle will be purchased 2nd hand, and a small amount of the final figure raised will be used to tax and brand the vehicle with Welsh Sound Board and associated logos to aid promotion and exposure of the local scene and organisations involved in running and maintaining the vehicle, and to ensure it is permanently road legal and ready to use. The interior will be adapted at no cost.
I hope you see this cause worthy of your time and support.
