Story
We are both runners, teachers and mums of young children who wish to give back to our local community. Whilst out running one evening, we decided we would utilise our athletic skills to help raise money for SWAT (Stewarton Woodlands Action Trust), a charity which works tirelessly to a maintain the public walkways through Lainshaw Woods. During lockdown, Lainshaw Woods was utilised by many in the community and provided a much needed space for all age groups to escape the confinements of home. We feel very priviledged to have this on our doorstep and feel passionate about showing our appreciation and giving something back and we hope you will, too!
We have, therefore, challenged ourselves to run a 100 miles (50 miles each) during the month of August. We will be running through Lainshaw Woods and through parts of Stewarton, at regular intervals, wearing woodland animal masks (so we should be easy to spot for anyone looking out for us!). We hope to raise enough money to purchase a storytelling seat which can be used by everyone in Stewarton and will mark our appreciation of this wonderful space. Please join us in the challenge in your own way - walk, cycle, or run, like and share our post on Facebook and, together, let's create a positive legacy of lockdown for years to come!
