Story

I'm so heartbroken for my sister Alisha that she has lost everything in a split second and could have been a fatality but I'm thankful she survived.

On Sunday 10th June 2018 at 14.15 she was driving back from her very first event in her new Sweet Treets Cardiff van when the tragedy happened.

She'd only bought the van four weeks earlier. It was purchased as a basic catering vehicle with a full MOT. She'd spent thousands of pounds and hours renovating the vehicle to make it perfect for her NEW Sweet Treets Cardiff business.

BEFORE THE RENOVATION

AFTER THE RENOVATION

Whilst travelling along the A449 she felt her air conditioning stop, she looked down to see smoke and flames start bellowing into the van through the air vents. In a panic she managed to swerve onto the hard shoulder. Quick thinking she grabbed her phone and money belt (with all her takings from the weekend) and jumped from the van avoiding the flames that were now shooting out of the air vents and the bonnet. She ran around to the side of the van throwing her money belt onto the grass bank. She flew open the side door of the van trying to grab anything possible that could be saved but the only thing she managed to get out and onto the grass bank was a small slush machine, the heat and smoke from the burning vehicle was just too bad. She called the emergency services and had to watch her business and belongings going up in flames. I will never forget the panicked, hysterical call I received listening to her heart broken crying saying "its all gone, its on fire.... It's all gone". The flames were that fierce that they even caught the grass bank on fire which meant that she even lost her takings and the slush machine that she thought she'd managed to save.

Below are some photos of what is left of her Sweet Treets Cardiff business. Not only has she lost her Vehicle, stock, takings and belongings etc but she has also lost over a £1000 worth of extra stock plus a generator that was on hire. She has also prepaid for her van to attend future events that she is now unable to do which means she will lose that money also.

Alisha had worked so hard saving and investing every spare pound and minute trying to build a business for herself. I am so proud of her. In hindsight we both know how lucky she is to have made it out of this horrendous event alive as the emergency services explained that if she had driven it another quarter of a mile then she could have been badly burnt or event lost her life.

The van itself was on a basic insurance policy as she was a new start up business and was investing everything to build Sweet Treets Cardiff.

I know its a lot to ask but please can you share this Crowdfunding page and if possible kindly donate. Every pound will help.

Thank you for taking the time to read this story and I hope we can pull together and get Sweet Treets Cardiff back up and running.
