    Story

In December 2017 the Sweet Charity Choir released their cover of 'Come Alive' by legendary rock band Foo Fighters, to raise money and awareness of Music Support UK. Not only did the video reach hundreds of thousands of people online, but it allowed the space for people to open up about their mental health in an anonymous and totally supportive social platform.

Now, Sweet Charity Choir has re-created their version of 'Come Alive' VIRTUALLY to raise money for 6 charities in support of World Suicide Prevention Day 2020.

Singers from across the globe joined SCC Online and took part in a 3 week long course learning, rehearsing and recording all from the safety of their own homes. SCCO will be making a donation and all further donations will be split across 6 incredible mental health and suicide prevention charities from across the globe. These charities are:

Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand - The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand is a charity that works towards reducing stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness. We provide free support, training and resources for anyone who is going through a difficult time, or for people who are supporting loved ones through a difficult time.

The South African Depression and Anxiety Group - One of South Africa’s largest mental health advocacy groups focused on creating awareness, providing support and information on mental health issues. SADAG runs 23 helplines, as well as the country’s only Suicide Crisis Helpline receiving hundreds of calls every day from people who feel helpless and hopeless. We aim to de-stigmatise mental health and encourage people to reach out for help. SADAG works actively in creating awareness, educating the public, fighting for patients rights and providing support through free telephone counselling, over 160 Support Groups nationwide, training, school programmes and more. #MentalHealthMatters

Passenger Recovery - Passenger was started in response to a very real lack of recovery options for musicians and crew on the road. Schedules change every day, transportation can be unreliable, and meetings are often unavailable and/or unreachable. What begins as an attempt to relieve anxiety can sometimes create more stress, and for some people, it can be an overwhelming vision. Passenger is a free service that's here to help!

PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide - We are the national charity for the prevention of young suicide. We draw from the experience of many who have been touched personally by young suicide across the UK and speak on their behalf in our campaigns and in our work to save young lives. Together we believe that with appropriate support and education, many young suicides can be prevented.

Tiny Changes - Tiny Changes is a children’s mental health charity which was set up in memory of Frightened Rabbits Scott Hutchison following his death by suicide in May 2018. Early intervention is essential to improve mental health, but our public services are struggling to cope. Determined to do something to help, Tiny Changes was set up to support people and projects that positively impact young people’s mental health.

Campaign Against Living Miserably - The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) is leading a movement against suicide. Every week 125 people in the UK take their own lives. And 75% of all UK suicides are male. CALM exists to change this. Together we’ll help our parents, siblings, partners, friends and colleagues. We spread our message and facilitate, universities, pubs, clubs and prisons across the country – so that people feel empowered to share their experiences and get the help they need before they reach the point of crisis.

If you are able to donate even £1 you will be making a huge difference towards helping these amazing charities assist those that are struggling. And if you aren't able, share the video to spread the message of love and support to everyone across the globe.

Speaking is the first step to preventing, please don't be afraid to speak and let your voice be heard. Check in with each other and be kind.

    With love and gratitude,

Jenny and the SCC Team x

WOW WOW WOW! In just 3 days we have nearly DOUBLED OUR TOTAL!!! I am completely blown away by the generosity of our donors. ONLY £65 TO GO until we hit £4000! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your dedication to helping others. I'm moved by people sharing their stories on our posts and in messages.
