Weʼve raised £440 to Support the Stephen Darby Foundation

Funded on Saturday, 2nd November 2019

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

Salisbury Walking Footballers were asked by one our players Mark Corrigan if we would consider supporting and help fundraising for his nephew Stephen Darby [ ex Liverpool, Bradford City & Bolton Wanderers ] who had been devastatingly diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, it was a No Brainer we had to help.

After some quick discussions around ideas it was decided we would put on a Charity Fundraising Walking Football Tournament and invite initially teams Stephen had played for and perhaps add a few more!! well the invites went out and the responses was outstanding, not only did teams from Liverpool, Bradford and Bolton agree to take part but those of Swindon and Notts County [ Stephen had loan spells with them], we now have thirty men's and six ladies teams taking part. Quick to add their support were Arsenal [ both Men's and Ladies ], Spurs, Oxford, Fulham, Brighton, Bournemouth, Pompey. Leyton Orient, Wimbledon, plus many more.

As well as our players from Salisbury and Amesbury we will proudly welcome on Sunday 28th July to the Salisbury Rugby Club, Stephen and his Family as well as his STAR wife, England and Manchester City captain Steph Houghton all of whom may just be seen kicking the odd ball and getting on the score sheet??

Our aim is to further fund raise at the event through sponsorship, programme & raffle sales and further donations from food vendors.

We recently added our story to Facebook and attracted 90+ shares which has attracted over 30,000 views and we thought if each had just donated 10p we would have added £3000 to support Stephens Foundation, with your help could we make this a reality?? will YOU give us just 10p more if you can and between us we can help support and raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease
