Weʼve raised £330 to help fund Festival Churches' team investment in schools and agricultural projects in rural Zambia, with Kingsway Educational Initiatives.

Funded on Friday, 28th September 2018

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

    Story

In October, a team are going out from Festival Churches to south western Zambia to connect with the local community and build relationship. Our intention is to build a long term relationship through the work of Kingsway Educational Initiatives that will enhance education opportunities and business prospects (through agricultural projects) in the area. This is our first trip with a team. They are a wonderfully diverse bunch; from teens to grandparents, firefighter to farmer, students to teachers, and business owners. All have an interest in how best to invest time, energy and resources to benefit the local community.

Kingsway Educational Initiatives have been working in the area for nearly a decade and Festival Churches are partnering with their work and projects to help expand their schools and agricultural work. See https://kingsway.africa

To help support the team going out in October, I am looking for sponsorship as I do my first Open Water Swimming Race. I am swimming in the Big Bala Swim on June 2nd: http://loveswimrun.co.uk/thebigbalaswim/
I have never done anything like it and to call it a race is a joke for me as completing the course, not competing, will be my great achievement. This time last year I weighed the same as my six foot teenage sons (I am five foot) and was extremely unfit, but after a year of careful eating and regular exercise I find myself two and a half stone lighter, able to fit into my teenage daughter's clothes and considerably fitter! So to put this new found fitness to the test, I choose to swim 1.5km of open water. Would you be willing to sponsor me?
