Story
Wow! reached £1000 before I've started the swim so I've revised the target to one third of our annual commitment to Pathshala.
Louise will be swimming every day throughout February 2021 in the Exe Estuary. This is to raise money in memory of her son Sam. She will cover a daily distance of 400 metres (weather permitting), no wetsuit, in chilly tidal waters! By the end of month she will have swum 7 miles. Sponsor money will go to support students studying photo journalism at Pathshala South Asian Media Institute in Dhaka. Just two weeks before Sam died he learnt that he had been accepted to study film and photography at LCC. Examples of Sam Banks bursary students' photography (past and present) on the theme of water, will accompany post updates. The covid pandemic has hit low income families in Dhaka particularly hard and the students are more than ever in need of support right now.

3 years agoOnly four more swims to go! Thanks for all the support which has buoyed me up and spurred me on through the snow, wind and sunshine. Sam is always beside me. Hoping to go beyond the 7 mile swim goal as we have done with the fundraising goal. xx

3 years agoThank you for all your donations including from the many anonymous friends who I haven't been able to thank personally (as I don't know who you are!) At 16 days in, we are just above the £3000 mark! This will help us towards the full £5,500 annual bursary commitment. The Beast from the East is making swims chillier but your support is a great motivator. My sense of being at one with the elements and Sam while in the water, along with knowing the funds will help change lives, is very heartening.
