Grenfell, Where to start?
We became friends over 27 years ago when we both worked as lifeguards at Kensington sports centre next to grenfell tower. Who would have imagined that all these years later our paths would cross again under such devastating circumstances...
On the night of June 14th 2017 I lost my 12 year old niece in the fire at Grenfell. And in a heartbreaking coincidence Dave was a firefighter in a crew from the red watch at North Kensington fire Station who went into the tower to search for her. .
To say it has affected us both is an understatement, we‘ve shared so many tears over the last 20 months but our strong friendship has helped us along the way

We now want to do what we can to help our community and all those affected by this disaster. Thats why we are doing a 5K swimathon back at the place we first met, to raise funds for The Grenfell Foundation a charity that helps the bereaved and survivors of the Grenfell tragedy..

The Grenfell Foundation is a charitable organisation set up last year at the request of bereaved and survivors from the Grenfell Tower fire. It will provide support and assistance to the generations affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy for years to come, with an emphasis on community, well-being and education. The Foundation doesn't grant payments to individuals, but funds services and equipment that support bereaved and survivors. Examples include the Silent Walk, anniversary events, travel for bereaved that live outside of London to attend important meetings, costs for videos and media that keep Grenfell in the Public Eye, and will soon look to support other organisations that support bereaved, survivors and the local community with their recovery through the provision of equipment or small grants.
