Story

Our gymnastics floor at Synergy Gymnastics is used by hundreds of children every week at Camberwell Leisure Centre but because it is used so much there are now tears and rips which are beyond repair.

Our floor has become a hazard and very soon we will have to cut the number of children in classes as the floor will get smaller, or worse we will need to cancel classes altogether.

Camberwell had the highest childhood obesity rate in England in 2020 and gymnastics has helped provide regular physical activity for children of all ages and abilities in the area.

As a Community Interest Company we aim to keep costs affordable to our local families but this also means we don't have huge savings that can be used to buy equipment. Read our latest Social Impact Report.

At Camberwell Leisure Centre we run classes from 1 years old through to 12 years old. We start with Tiny Gym which is a free play session for Toddlers and as children get older they move into structured recreational classes. We also have a popular SEN class on Saturday afternoons which means children that need extra support to take part can do so.

The venue also serves as a pathway into competitive gymnastics at our other training venues and gymnasts have gone on to compete at regional and national level.

We have also had a number of gymnasts represent Great Britain at international events. Many of them started out at Camberwell doing recreational gymnastics and without the venue many local children would miss that opportunity in the future.
