Story
Hello dear transexuals and allies.
First of all - if you're a transexual reading this, bugger off. This isn't for you - we all support each other as much as we can already and if you don't have an actual 'disposable income' please don't donate!
Ok allies, now its just you and me:
After three years of waiting, I finally got the call. I’m getting a designer pussy! Huge, life-changing, beautiful news… with just five weeks’ notice. Which means I now have 4 weeks until surgery, and then ten full weeks where I’m under strict doctor’s orders to “rest” (aka no working, no overdoing it, no stress — though I’ll probably still be tweeting nonsense from bed).
The thing is: life doesn’t pause while I heal. My mortgage, my service charge, my ground rent, my bill all need paying, then add in groceries and taxis to and from the hospital and things really start to pile up. My living costs add up to about £1,300 a month.
So across 10 weeks, maths girlies: that’s £3,250.
If you know of me at all, you’ll know that I usually spend my time hustling for the community. Over the past few years I’ve helped raise money for London Trans Pride, The Outside Project, and Gendered Intelligence, as well as running commissioning schemes for trans writers and mentoring young trans artists, and hiring hundreds of trans folk to work on my plays across the years. I love supporting the (guys and) dolls — it’s what keeps me going, but asking for help for myself feels very different (and honestly, quite overwhelming), and honestly a bit ashamed - but that's for me to work through with my therapist (who ill also need paying!)
Anything you can give will help me cover these weeks of recovery and give me the peace of mind to just heal. Even a fiver means so much. And if you can’t donate, sharing this page is also a huge gift.
From the bottom of my very transexual cold black heart: thank you. For real.
Love,
Tabby 💕
