A fund-raiser to help our local NHS ICU/critical care staff eat at the hospital during this critical time in the pandemic.

Through local links with medical staff at the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH), we asked how we could help Doctors, Nurses and Allied Health Professionals in a real and practical way. According to the head of the ICU, in the first wave, apparently pizza deliveries had a real and uplifting effect on morale! Surely after a tough 12 hour shift, no-one wants to go home and cook a meal!

To this end, we are asking for donations that will enable us to set up a regular twice weekly ‘Take-Away’ food delivery to our wonderful NHS staff working in the ICU at Royal Berkshire Hospital.

We will start with pizza deliveries and then depending on demand, look at other ‘Take-Away’ options - I’m sure the possibilities are endless around the Henley, Caversham & Reading areas!

Update: We've been running for 3 months now and will finish deliveries just before Easter weekend. An incredible response - over £12,000 raised including a final free delivery - thanks to Domino's. Tesco's have kindly donated 140 Easter Eggs too! We've been delivering to ICU, A&E and the two main Respiratory Wards every week. We believe this campaign has made a real difference to morale for those working in critical care. Heartfelt thanks to everyone that has supported this campaign to show our NHS Heroes how much they have been appreciated by our community!

Why Now?

With Christmas and New Year celebrations postponed for many, limited if any time off, staff shortages due to illness and the unbelievable strain of watching patients and grieving families cope with loss of life on a daily basis, the strain can only be imagined.

Many people I’m sure will want to help in whatever small way they can. This is a small, tangible and immediate way we can offer our support.
