    Story

    TAKEOVER 2018

TakeOver is an annual festival run entirely by young people, who are supported and mentored by industry professionals. TakeOver programme, produce and deliver a large scale theatre and arts festival at York Theatre Royal and across the city. We're very excited to be collaborating with York Mediale (www.yorkmediale.com) this year to work together on a Festival of Theatre and Media Arts. We plan to create performances, exhibitions and run workshops focusing on local stories and important historical buildings. Through our collaboration with York Mediale we will use Media Arts to make and present exciting, contemporary work.

"We believe that through active participation in the project, young people will remember these stories and pass on their legacy by creating new, dynamic pieces of art and theatre that will make an impact on the community. We hope that it will improve the community's relationship with historical sights and encourage people to view them as places that they can make the most of, as well as discover more about Media Arts and how they can be used to combine the past and present and create exciting pieces." - Jessy Roberts, Artistic Director 2018
