Story
Some of the lads who attend our Man Support Collective and Walking sessions are taking on the challenge of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks.
What is the Yorkshire 3 peaks Challenge?
The peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside are known collectively as the Yorkshire Three Peaks. They are often walked as a circular route taking in all three mountains in one day. The route is 24 miles (38.6km) long and involves 5000 ft (1600 metres) of vertical ascent.
Last year, some of the lads (Raz, Ethan, Jonny and Vinny) undertook a 50km challenge on the 4th June. This year they have decided to undertake the Yorkshire 3 Peaks with Raz, Jonny, Ethan, Craig and Dave aka T1000 / Hulk also joining in the fun.
They are raising awareness of Talk Ourselves Well and also hopefully some money so that we can keep providing sessions within the local community.
Each year, a growing number of men sadly take their own lives.
This personal challenge event is to help raise awareness, educate and empower people around Suicide Prevention, Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing of the fantastic work that is happening in Darwen through Talk Ourselves Well.
The money raised through sponsorship will be used to help run these fantastic voluntary organisations who receive very little funding. The money raised will help build an allotment, which will be created into a community space for females, males and children who can interact, talk, listen, share and connect with others in a health based natural environment, we are still looking to raise funds for a van however recently gained a Darwen based allotment which has plenty of scope for improving mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
Get involved in this great community event and support local businesses. To help raise money please use the Just Giving link here - https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/talkourselveswell - 100% of money raised will be used to support Talk Ourselves Well and the Talk Ourselves Well Growth Space.
