Story

In June 2019 I will be travelling to Chiang Mai Thailand and the surrounding areas with the World Challenge Organization. We will be working in a few key areas which are education , sustainable livelihoods , conservation, water, health , sanitation , welfare and housing . The projects range from improving sanitation in schools and living conditions for the elderly to helping to bring water to local communities. World Challenge aims to get young people involved with different cultures around the world using the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This will be an opportunity for me to live alongside local communities, get involved in projects with local laborers to improve conditions in some of the communities.

As individuals we are required to raise the funds for the expedition ourselves. One of the ways I will do this is by participating in the Henley Mile swim event which will take place on the 15th July 2018. I am hoping that people will sponsor me in this event to swim a mile in the River Thames. The mile is about 60 lengths of a 25m pool but no sides or walls to cling onto and push off! To prepare for this open water swim, in addition to swim training, I have been plunging into cold lakes, learning how to sight in open water and to not squeal when encountering branches, weeds and ducks (although an angry swan may still elicit a shriek)! The object of this Just Giving page is to gain sponsorship and donations which will go entirely towards the World Challenge expedition funds. All contributions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your support !
