Dear all,

I am about to embark on my first pilgrimage, 'Camino de Santiago'. I will be walking 300km in 14 days. My journey will begin in Portugal, on the 12th May at approximately 6pm, where my flight lands in Porto. I'll be meeting my friend and staying in a hostel, and then setting off at 6am on Monday morning. We will be walking 20-30 km a day, and will be sharing rooms in local Albergos with up to 50 people (for those of you who know me, I think you'll know where the real challenge lies...).

I know you have probably seen about a hundred 'just giving' pages, and if you've made it this far... thank you! Let me tell you why I would LOVE your support. I left school last year, and have made my first little venture into adulthood. I have just finished a 6 month internship in London. I'm not on a gap year, so this is not your typical volunteer work. But I really want to play a role in positively contributing to our planet (she really needs our help).I've only just come to realise how truly far from perfect our world is. Sadly, humans seem to be creating most of the mess. Instead of dwelling on the negatives, as I'm sure you are quite aware! Let us be the change we want to see?

I would like to donate the money we raise to 2 non-profit organisations. We as a species have caused their suffering. I know I have because I've ridden an elephant in Thailand and I've also been to see elephants perform on a stage. Little did I know the amount of pain I caused that animal, who has been forced to go through a stage they call 'soul breaking' (you don't want to see those photos). Maybe you haven't put a new born baby orangutan in a cardboard box and starved it to death... but someone else has, and it needs our help. We can help ourselves but they can't. The the money you give will directly save the lives of these animals and prevent any further damage. If I haven't persuaded you then have a quick look in their instagram pages.
