Each and every day we wake up, roll out of bed, indulge in a warm shower, pop the kettle on and bish, bash, bosh, we are content. Yet, the reality is that nations all over the world do not share our privileges, do not share our comforts and do not share our prospects. The lack of basic infrastructure restricts areas globally. This is especially the case for hill tribes in Chiang Rai, Thailand.

Here, houses are generally constructed from materials that have been found and nailed together. Running water and electricity is often a luxury available only to those who may have a regular income. Community centres, if any, are very often unsafe and crumbling through lack of funding to redevelop.

My plan is to volunteer in Chiang Rai for 3 weeks with Bamboo Projects where, I, along with a group of other volunteers, will help to support the tribal communities by getting our hands dirty and helping to rebuild/renovate the existing infrastructure, and help to kickstart a wealth of potential for communities who don't have solid foundations for a successful life,

So what is my plea to you? For me to able to volunteer in Thailand, to make an actual difference in the world, I am asking if you can support me with donations to help raise my goal of £2000. But panic not, I am not asking you to give me money for nothing. Over the course of the next year I plan to complete 12 challenges to help raise the money, ranging from eating off a £ a day for a week, to doing a 100k bike ride.

Not only would this trip be the trip of a lifetime, but it would make a real difference to the locals of Chiang Rai, and quite simply help to reinvent their lives and fight against the socio-economic disparity which unfortunately is so prevalent on our planet. What would you gain by supporting me? Well, you will be able to see and know where exactly your money is going rather than mindlessly giving to charities unbeknown to how your money is being used.
