I am a British teacher who is living in the south of Thailand in a province called Phatthalung. I have lived here for a year now and continued to stay on here as I love the community.

Everyone will help each other here even if they have very little and it inspires me every day. Although there are many people here that are on a very low income they get by through the help of family, friends and strangers. In fact as long as they have food on the table and a dry place to sleep they are quite content with this.

Although in this particular mans case its not so easy so I am reaching out to people back in England!

The 83 year old man in question is disabled, his small leaded hut does not have any electricity or water so he doesnt even have a toilet in his home.

His roof is made of straw and leaks as we have been in the rainy season. He gets by on a candle for light in the night. He survives on welfare which is 800 baht per month for which he uses on dry food. He has no family and no friends are in a position to be able to finance rebuilding him a home.

The money will go to making a new roof, installing a toilet and electricity and water.

The local people are donating anything they can to help such as dry food and clothes, kitchen appliances but we need the money first to make this into a habital and comfortable home for him. We just want to improve the quality of his life!

We are trying to raise 300 pounds even if you can only give 2 pounds it will make a massive difference. This man survives on what works out less than 20 pounds a month. So no donation is to small!
