Story
I am raising 1,800 pounds to volunteer in Tanzania, Africa in summer 2018 where I will be teaching students from a variety of different ages all the way up to 25 in primary and secondary schools. These students are not as fortunate as many of us in the UK they have been brought up with a very limited education and little educational facilities. The project lasts for around four weeks and along with 11 other pupils at Thornleigh Salesian College we all aim to have a positive impact on as many lives as possible and help inspire many students to keep at their educational studies.
We also sometimes get the opportunity to visit Mamma Margret’s a charity which I have been part of for several years and helped to establish during its early years. This charity has a huge impact on so many lives and it helps women who have been exploited or been financially taken advantage of get out of poverty. It provides them with a stable income along with an opportunity to send their children to school. I’m sure if we get the chance to visit this amazing charity we will be continuing our work as it continues to expand every year.
Along with helping in schools across Tanzania we also undertake a group project last year the project was refurbishing an orphanage where the students painted walls, replaced beds and overall improved the environment at the orphanage. This is something a lot of us would like to be part of when we go in summer 2018. As this truly did change children’s lives and will continue to help many children for many years to come. We haven’t decided on a project yet as the planning of the whole project has only just begun but I will keep you posted over the foreseeing months.
All the money raised will be going directly to the project and any donation no matter how big or small will be much appreciated. This is truly I once in a lifetime opportunity for myself to have an impact on so many families and people’s lives. Thank you !!!!!
***Over the next few months we will also be holding a few events and i will keep you posted with project below. Keep coming back to see what I've been up to****

Owen Bond
Hi, I'm Owen and I have been fortunate to be selected to go to Tanzania to volunteer for four weeks in secondary schools. I have always tried to inspire students and now I have the chance to inspire pupils from minimal educational upbringings to further their educations.
