I have been so fortunate in being given the opportunity to travel to Tanzania in 2018 to take part in life changing project. I and 12 other students from Thornleigh Salesian College, Bolton, will be traveling to Africa next summer for 4 weeks. Whilst there we will be delivering lessons to students ranging from primary school to secondary school, the lessons we will teach include; English, maths, science and sports. Furthermore, as a group we will be working together on a practical project to help regenerate resources for the local community, in previous years this has entailed projects like redecorating the local orphanage. There will also be an opportunity for a few students to volunteer in the local hospital and help out where they are able to.

The east Africa project is something which I am passionate about, so far this project has help so many people and I hope I can add to that. The work that I will contribute to whilst there is going to help someone grow up with greater chances in life and that in itself is greatly rewarding to me. It is also an opportunity to shape the rest of my life as well, something which I can take so many great experiences from and meet new people on the way.

However, the hard work doesn’t just start next year, it starts now. We have all been set a target of £1800 to raise by June 2018, to do this I ask for your help, any donations, no matter how big or small are greatly appreciated. We will all also be taking part in several fundraising events throughout the year, which we will keep posted on, with all profits going towards this project.
