In November 2015 a group of Tapton students began work on a project for the Engineering Education Scheme (EES). This involved working with ARM, a company involved in the design of microprocessors, to produce a product according to a brief. The result was Solo, an electric guitar that teaches the user to play.
The prototype and written report were met with acclaim at the EES assessment day, and the team won a number of awards. Since the end of EES, the team has participated in the regional Big Bang science convention, and have been selected to participate in the national finals in Birmingham, March 2017.
The team are short for funds and would really appreciate any donations, in order to support them in their goal of reaching the 2017 Fair. The money will be spent on accommodation and travel costs, as well as any spare components for continued development of the prototype.
