Iʼve raised £20 to Build Ghana's first STEM centre with Rainford High Technology College
- Eccleston, United Kingdom
- Funded on Thursday, 2nd March 2017
Don't have time to donate right now?
Story
For the past four years, Rainford Highs Sixth Form have traveled to Ghana in order to make incredible improvements to the society, such as:
- Donating clothes
- Building libraries (supplied with books)
- Building schools
- Planting vegetable patches
- Building beds
- Helping women and children who were forced to leave their homes
Our plan for next year is to do something that has never been done before. Not just by our school, but by anyone in Ghana. STEM learning is ‘working to achieve a world-leading education for all young people in science, technology, engineering and mathematics’, which I believe is vital to ensure that the young people in Africa can hope for a better future for themselves and their families. Building a STEM Center requires a lot of resources and we have been kind enough to receive many product donations from companies and we are also taking over all of our schools old technology.
I am aiming to raise £1,600. This number pays for:
A guide who will be with us 24 hours a day
All project materials & equipment
Unlimited safe drinking water
Travel insurance
Flights
We students are going with two teachers from our school who have ran the trip since it began, in 2013. As the school has been going for a number of consecutive years, we have very good relations with the locals of Ghana and the school has stayed in the same accommodation and used the same guide and transport systems since their first trip. I am hoping to be able to carry on the incredible legacy that past students have left behind and make a positive impact towards bettering the lives of the young people in Ghana and do something that has never been attempted before. I hope that you are inspired enough to help me along my journey.
