Emmanuel is an orphanage in a small town called Guaimaca in Honduras. It first came to be 27 years ago with 5 children, and today it houses 500 children with 21 permanent staff.
I first went to Emmanuel after finishing school in 2011. I knew not long after arriving that it had captured my heart. I have spent the last 5 years making short visits while waiting, praying, preparing & listening to God as to when he is leading me back on a more permanent basis.
He has been so faithful & has kept His promises just as He always has. I am excited to be moving out on 23rd September to be back in the place I left my heart 5 years ago.
I will be working an unpaid volunteer role at Emmanuel, with accommodation and food for the most part being provided for me. My main costs will be general living necessities and travel being the largest. My hope and vision is that once I have covered my basic living needs, any remaining money will be able to go to the orphanage, the kids & whatever project it is needed in at that time.
The pitiful amount of savings I have managed to accumulate over the last few (mainly last) years is all I will be going with along with a strong faith & trust that the Lord will provide.
Simply taking an interest in Emmanuel, the kids & the amazing team of staff and volunteers is enough for me. If it is put on your heart to pray or to give financially no matter how small I am truly truly thankful. It will be a huge blessing to me and the whole Emmanuel family and I hope that in return you too will be blessed.
