Story
In the dead of Himalayan winter, we are "hiking for life". Savi and I are trekking to Everest Base camp. We are doing this in order raise awareness and funds for Maiti Nepal.
For far too long, young girls have been treated as a commodity. The organisation was born out of a crusade to protect Nepali girls and women from crimes including domestic violence, trafficking for flesh trade, child prostitution, child labor and various forms of exploitation and torture. Kumi and I spent our day speaking to CNN Hero and founder of Maiti Nepal, Anuradha Koirala, and it was a truly heart-touching experience. Today we learnt that an additional 3 girls were tortured and left in the middle of the forest and if it hadn't been for Maiti Nepal, these girls may still lack shelter and necessities to stay alive. Child trafficking in Nepal is scarily on the rise, with up to 20,000 children trafficked out of the country each year.
Join us in our fundraising quest to support the girls of Nepal. Every bit counts and any donation will be truly appreciated!
Please spread the word. Any buzz is good buzz.
Thank you for your time and support,
Tara and Savitri
