Story

This July, myself and 5 of my oldest friends are cycling the Coast2Coast from Whitehaven to Whitley Bay, to raise much needed funds for the Future of Taru in Kenya.

Future of Taru is a non-profit, registered charity, who provide a school, top quality education and food, at realistic and affordable prices, to support the people of Taru, and continue to identify children who are in need of sponsorship.

Starting from scratch a few years ago they have now built a school for over 230 children, many of whom are orphans and over half of them are sponsored to cover their education costs. I sponsor two children, Ian and Angelo, £12.50 each per month.

They have begun building a secondary school, and hope to be able to add sports and IT facilities for the school, along with dormitories as many of the children are orphans.

So myself and my good friends Gary Duncanson, Kevin Martin, Pete Cafferky, Stu King and Steve Castle are tackling the 155 mile Coast2Coast route from Whitehaven to Whitley Bay from the 16th to 18th July. We are not professional cyclists! But we are going to complete the route and hope to raise some significant funds towards this incredible cause.

So if you are able to donate a few pounds towards this fantastic charity, hopefully we can help transform the futures of children who will soon be finishing their primary education.

100% of monies donated will go directly into the charity. Any money we are spending on the cycling route is coming out of our own personal savings. The organisers of the charity do the same thing with all of their fundraising activities.

Thank you on behalf of my friends Paul and Eunice, the lads who are joining me on the ride, and all of the teachers and pupils at the Future of Taru; hopefully we can all help them build a bigger and brighter future.
