Story
On the evening of 13th September 2019 I got the knock at the door that no parent ever wants, my 18 year old Son Tayler had been involved in a RTC. Initial reports were he was fine and had a bump on the head but that soon turned sour and a call for the Air Ambulance was made to air lift him from the scene, problems with the air ambulance meant he was Blue Light Police escorted to Edinburgh stopping on route in Inverkeithing so the Trauma Team from ERI could treat him as early as possible and place him in an Induced Coma.
Tayler had a depressed fracture of the skull which had hit him on the brain causing bruising and bleeding on the brain amongst his other serious injuries..
His Life was hanging in the balance and he had to have an emergency brain operation during the night,by midday the following morning we were told by the consultant he could pass away at any point and his Life was half hour by half hour and that should he make it it would then be how disabled would he be.
Tayler has fought hard to be here today and is still recovering from his injuries after being in 3 hospitals , this fund raiser is not for him but for the Strangers who gave us his Family and Friends Life so that they can continue to help others and give the gift of Life.
On Sunday 13th September 2020 I will walk the Journey (along the closest footpaths) that Tayler made that fateful evening beginning at Clinkum Bank on the A985 at 9.30pm and walk the 60-80 miles via Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, Western General Hospital Edinburgh and finishing at the Cameron Hospital in WIndygates.
*** It is hoped Tayler will be in a position to walk at least part of the journey with me ***
