£752raised of £3,500 target by 42 supporters

Weʼve raised £752 to help domestic abuse survivors heal, find hope and move on with their lives. Pilot #UnleashYourAwesome project starting in Lincolnshire.

    Lincolnshire, United Kingdom
Funded on Saturday, 18th February 2017

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

Guilt. Shame. Hopelessness. Anger. Fear. A crippling lack of self belief. Suicidal thoughts. Domestic abuse changes people and it's tough to climb back up.

As someone who's been there, I understand the after effects well. It's not just about escaping - it's about learning to live again.

Working with Lincolnshire County Council's domestic abuse team, I piloted a special version of my #UnleashYourAwesome programme earlier this year. We invited domestic abuse 'survivors' to come for a day-long workshop.

We used group sharing, timelines, NLP, mindfulness, visioning and extreme empowerment to move attendees from 'no hope' to hope, positivity, determination and strength.

The results were amazing! One lady went from agarophobic to shopping trips and days out with her kids almost overnight. She credits the event with moving her out of suicidal thoughts. It saved her life AND her kids got their mum back.

Now, with the backing of LCC's domestic abuse department, we want to do more.

Resources are thin on the ground at authority level, so I'm hoping individuals and businesses who understand how important it is to get 'survivors' properly back into society will all dig deep and help raise the £3,500 needed to properly run and promote three more events across the county.

I'll end with the words of LCC's domestic abuse manager, Karen Shooter: "We have some great services to help people out of those relationships and on the road to recovery. But I believe we don't always go far enough with those who need extra support, not just to cope but to thrive. Taz's pilot event proved how much this exciting, positive and motivational course can help people to move on with their lives in a way they had not previously thought possible. Please help us continue what we've started in Lincolnshire."

Please help - every penny counts. You can also help by spreading the word - share this with friends, family, anyone who might be able to help.

    Thank you,

I have extended the fundraising deadline until the new year to give us more time to approach businesses once Christmas is out of the way. With offline donations, we've passed the £1,000 mark now, but there's still a long way to go. Please, please do keep talking about the campaign for us and help in any way you can. Thank you so much for all your support so far, Taz x

Wow! Eileen Haines has done a marvellous job of fundraising for the campaign with her sponsorship for dying her hair rainbow colours. At last count she'd topped £320! :D Thank you x

Just a little to help fellow survivors, if you ever need a volunteer helper or 'share my story ' on any of these courses I'd be happy to help 😊🙋🏻😊

Taz Thornton stands for hope. I have never experienced domestic abuse, but I am glad to have an opportunity to support women and men who have.
