I'm raising £10000 to Dignity and Joy for children in Teso district Uganda – Christmas 2026

Story

After a successful trip in December 2025 where we managed to support 1850 children, support 5 families with sewing machines to start employment and pay for 11 children (10 girls and 1 boy) go to school for 2 years, we have decided to go back again this Christmas 2026, we are asking for more donations where we will buy most things there supporting local businesses rather than taking lots of suitcases filled with goodies due to issues that can happen with Uganda customs.

When we return we are going to support one area this time in Teso district. We want to support children but also provide homes with Solar so they can have electric and lighting in their homes.

Our founding Director Mike Brooks who isn’t very athletic has decided to raise more funds he will swim a marathon to raise money this is 1700 lengths of a 25m pool, this will be a challenge for him and we hops that you’ll be able to support him to help raise much needed funds to help people in Uganda.

Many of the children we’ll be working with face daily challenges that no child should have to endure:

• Lack of access to education due to unaffordable school fees

• Hunger at school because families can’t afford daily meals

• Period poverty, which keeps girls home from class and strips away dignity

• Limited access to basic essentials like underwear, menstrual supplies, and learning tools

We’re raising funds to cover:

• 🎓 School fees — just $50 per term gives a child the chance to learn, grow, and dream

• 🍽️ Breakfast and lunch — €25 per term ensures no child learns on an empty stomach

• 🩸 Menstrual cups and hygiene kits — safer, reusable solutions for girls where pads aren’t available

• 👚 Bras and knickers — especially for teens, to restore comfort and confidence

• 🎁 Festive treats and essentials — to bring joy and dignity this Christmas

• ⚽ Sports equipment — footballs, volleyballs, and more to nurture talent and teamwork

• 🎒 School supplies — bags, pencils, and tablets to help children stay in school

• 🎥 Creative tools — a video camera and studio support to empower youth through music and media

There are three school terms per year, and every pound raised helps us reach more children with the support they deserve. Whether you donate £5 or £50, you’re helping us build futures, restore dignity, and show these children they are not forgotten.

✈️ A Personal Commitment

Two directors from Tameside Community Computers CIC — Mike and Andy — will be travelling to Uganda on Boxing Day, spending 10 days in the very rural village of Adacar. They’ll be staying with local families in traditional mud huts, embracing the realities of daily life to better understand the challenges and joys of the communities they serve.

This isn’t just a visit, it’s a deep commitment to solidarity, empathy, and learning. Their presence will help build trust, strengthen partnerships, and ensure that every donation is delivered with care and respect.

🗣️ A Message from Wataba, Muslim Charity Uganda

“We are overwhelmed with gratitude and joy as Tameside Community Computers brings warmth and kindness to our charity and the children we serve during the Christmas period.

Their generous donation of tabs, phones, school bags, colouring pencils, and other gifts is a testament to the spirit of compassion and generosity that transcends faiths and cultures.”

🗣️ A Message from Mr Boniface, Local Partner Charity

“Tameside Community Computers coming to support us over the Christmas period means a great deal to our charity and the children we serve.

Their visit is not just a normal visit, it is a life-transforming opportunity and a source of motivation for so many of the children.

What makes this visit even more special is the personal commitment of Mr Mike and Mr Andy, who are willing to sleep in the native houses.

This will make them the very first white visitors to stay overnight in our community, which is creating great excitement and joy.”

As Wataba and Boniface remind us, this mission is more than a donation, it’s a blessing, a bridge, and a beacon of hope. Your support helps us live those values, not just during the festive season, but in every life we touch.

Thank you for standing with us. ❤️
