The Tea Boat Project is a new social enterprise that will inspire and rejuvenate the local community in Staines. The project’s vision is to build and run a floating café on the riverbank adjacent to our office and to improve the surrounding landscape as it has been poorly maintained. We hope this will have a lasting impact, increasing biodiversity and encouraging locals, passers by and office workers to enjoy the area’s innate beauty. The Tea Boat Project will connect with underprivileged groups offering them opportunities to develop skills and gain employment on the Tea Boat. In the longer term the aim is to replicate The Tea Boat Project in other areas of the country. Since we learned about the Tea Boat Project at the beginning of 2016 over 18 groups of volunteers have contributed to this cause. We also have volunteers signed up to be charity trustees and these individuals are helping the Tea Boat Project apply for charity status as a “Charitable Incorporated Organisation”.
We are seeking to raise £500 to renew our public liability insurance and buy/replace gardening tools that are essential for maintaining the site. Any excess funds will be allocated by the trustees to allow the Tea Boat Project to pursue its charitable aims.
