    Story

The Mongoose Machine takes on The Rickshaw Run!

This April, The Mongoose Machine, sponsored by Alight Media and raising funds for Justdiggit, will take on the challenge of the annual Rickshaw Run, a 4,000km race across India.

The vehicle, otherwise known as an auto-rickshaw, ‘rolling cake tin’ or ‘glorified lawnmower’, will be piloted by Alight Media’s Commercial Finance Manager, Kartik Sourirajan, alongside his friends and teammates, Jamie Sutton and Joebie Mijares.

Travelling individually from the UK, Australia and New Zealand, they will all touchdown on 9 April to start the race in Kochi in the South of India before arriving at the finish line in Sikkim in the North-east. This should take around 14 days, but there is no set route, no back-up and no way of knowing they will actually make the final destination.

According to the organisers, The Adventurists: “The only certainty is that you will get lost, you will get stuck and you will break down.”

Check out this video from last year’s race to see what The Mongoose Machine team has in store….

The team’s name is inspired by the Indian grey mongoose, famous for its love of battling and devouring snakes like cobras. The mongoose also apparently symbolises action, adventure, fearlessness, resourcefulness, speed and optimism. All the qualities these intrepid racers will need for this epic journey.

Powered by their sponsor, Alight Media (the UK’s fastest growing OOH media company), the team will also be raising money for their co-sponsor and Alight’s international charity partner, Justdiggit.

Justdiggit is on a mission to cool down the planet by regreening degraded land. Climate change is the biggest crisis currently facing humanity but by applying cost-effective nature-based solutions, we can help to mitigate global warming by up to 37%.

The team is racing to raise awareness of the great work being done by the Justdiggit team as well as at least £1 for every km travelled in the race.

Please support The Mongoose Machine by donating to our fund and by sharing our links to tackle global warming together.

£500 of the funds raised will also be donated to The Adventurists' charity partner of choice, Cool Earth. For more information on Cool Earth, please visit https://www.coolearth.org/
